Distinguished and Famous people from Highett
🏛️ William Highett
Banker, politician and landowner William Highett is directly connected with the suburb’s name. Kingston’s local history records Highett’s Road as a track leading to one of his properties. When the railway opened in 1881, the station took its name from that road. Highett had died the previous year, after a career involving banking, business and colonial politics. The suburb’s name preserves the connection between his landholding, the road leading to it and the station that followed.
